Can universities influence interiors trends?

Can universities influence interiors trends?

Birmingham City University will unveil four trend pavilions, presenting the latest trends forecasted for 2010, produced by their MA and BA students from interior, textile and product design at the Interiors Birmingham Show taking place at the NEC in January 2009.

Design Studies programme

This all new programme of design courses brings together the highly successful interior and product design courses to create four distinct pathways in:

BA (Hons) Interior Design
BA (Hons) Product Design
BA (Hons) Interior Products Design
BA (Hons) Design Management Strategies

This structure responds to global changes in the nature of professional design, reflecting the interplay of design knowledge, attitudes and skills. Strong emphasis is placed on the transferable values that have proved to lead to wide ranging employability for our graduates..>>

Claystation at the Climate Change Festival

  • A four day mass participatory event recently held in Birmingham's Centenary Square (31st May to 3rd June).
  • Forming a key component of the city's “Climate Change Festival”.
  • Facilitated by staff and students on the MA Product Design course
  • More information at www.climatechangefestival.org.uk
Claystation encouraged all visitors (young and old) to contribute new sustainable ideas for a greener future, via the medium of modelling clay, onto a large map of Birmingham city centre. The intention was to be both lots of fun and empowering at the same time..>>

Tektura collaboration project

A collaboration between Birmingham City University level 5 BA [Hons] Textile Design students and Tektura Wallcoverings..>>
